Watch Nintendo's E3 2018 livestream right here at Digital Trends Posted: 12 Jun 2018 08:02 AM PDT Nintendo has abandoned the traditional E3 press conference in recent years in favor of a livestream that’s similar to its monthly Nintendo Direct addresses. What does that mean for you, the fan? Well, not very much, other than that the streams typically feature lots of gameplay footage and little commentary from developers. Nintendo’s E3 2018 livestream closes out this year’s press conferences on June 12, and we’d like to invite you to watch it right here with us. Nintendo’s livestream starts on at 9 a.m. PT on Tuesday, June 12. Digital Trends Senior Editor Matt Smith will provide live commentary and reactions during the stream on our Twitch channel, which you can watch right here in this post. Nintendo’s major announcements take place during the first hour of the show. After that, Nintendo will roll right into its Treehouse Live event. You can expect play sessions and increased commentary about the games discussed during the livestream. While we’d appreciate it if you joined us for the Nintendo fun, you can also stream the show on Nintendo’s website, YouTube, and Twitch. After the first hour, our broadcast will stop, so you’ll likely want to hop over to one of those other options for the Treehouse Live gameplay sessions. So what does Nintendo have in store for its fans at the show? We have a full list of expectations for Nintendo’s livestream that you can read here, but here’s a brief recap: Super Smash Bros. for Switch will certainly headline the event, and we’re also guessing that we’ll learn a launch date for the upcoming brawler. We’ll also hear a bit more about Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu! and Pokemon: Let’s Go Eevee!, the recently announced games set in the world of Pokémon Yellow. It will be interesting to see how close the Let’s Go games are to a core Pokémon experience, given that a true “core” Pokémon role-playing game is coming to the Switch in 2019. We could also learn more about the untitled Switch Yoshi platformer, Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3, and more. Nintendo always seems to have a few surprises for its fans, so this is a can’t-miss event for Nintendo fans. Editors' Recommendations |
E3 2018: Spider-Man PS4 Showcased In New Gameplay Video Posted: 12 Jun 2018 08:26 AM PDT In 2017, fans were pleased to see their favorite wall-crawler web sling through New York in Spider-Man's first gameplay trailer. We got some new gameplay at Sony's E3 2018 conference, and Spidey has never looked better. The team behind Sunset Overdrive have delivered a game where Spider-Man's full acrobatic prowess can be put to good use. A cinematic trailer starts out with Spider-Man approaching an enormous prison in the water by riding on the side of a helicopter. The cutscene transitions into a combat sequence where he fights escaped prisoners just outside of their cells. Much like the Batman: Arkham games, Spidey seamlessly moves from enemy to enemy, but while also acrobatically jumping off walls and through enemies' legs. From here, Spidey moves upstairs to go into another room. He spots Rhino and Electro before he platforms his way through the area. He's then grabbed by Scorpion and thrown, leading to another combat sequence against prisoners. He rapidly swings around the area as the camera moves around in unusual fashion. Spider-Man uses his web to take shields away from some enemies, which he slams into one to knock him out. The action then shifts outside as he rapidly moves through a rainy area. He wallruns and swings around before again encountering the villains. While confined, the area outside the facility looks to be quite large, and Spider-Man is able to swing around the area. He's warned that many of his key foes have escaped, and later he encounters them all on a helipad, including Mister Negative. A cutscene sees Spider-Man facing off against them all. He's nearly defeated, only for him to be saved by someone off-screen. Unfortunately, we don't get to see who it is before the trailer ends, although there is a noise that suggests it might be Miles Morales. Spider-Man is scheduled to release on PlayStation 4 on September 7. If you preorder the game, you'll get instant access to the Iron Spider outfit that Peter wears in Avengers: Infinity War. |
E3 2018: Watch Sony's PS4 Event Livestream Right Here Posted: 11 Jun 2018 01:25 PM PDT We have already arrived at the last official press event of E3, with EA’s pre-show, Microsoft, Square Enix and Ubisoft already over, and Nintendo’s non-stage reveals tomorrow. Sony is showing off what’s coming to the PS4, a console that has had a hell of a generation, outselling its rivals handily, and Sony’s excellent first-party offerings have been a large part of the reason why. Sony is always determined to make its show epic, and they haven’t had an off year in quite a while. But Microsoft also had a solid conference this year, so we’ll see how they stack up this time around. The show starts tonight, Monday, June 11, at 6 PM PT/9 PM ET. You can watch the livestream below here, and follow along with my liveblog here. What to Expect: Sony knows that it’s expected to make some big announcements and reveal some buzzed-about titles, so I would not expect to see any different in 2018. We know that they will likely have a lot of content from its third party partners like Activision, who will be showing off Black Ops 4 and the Destiny 2 Forsaken expansion. But first-party is why everyone has come to see Sony, and there should be a lengthy, hopefully gameplay-infused look at The Last of Us 2, with a release date likely to be in 2019. This fall’s Spider-man will likely get a good amount of time. We will hopefully return to the FFVII remaster and get more of a timetable on that. We know that God of War sequels are coming, but just a few months after release, there seems little point in announcing one this early. Maybe some DLC taking us to a new realm, perhaps? I’d definitely be down for that. From Software might have more to show from Shadows Die Twice, shown at the Microsoft event, unexpectedly. We could also see Bloodborne 2, which has been rumored for some time, and that might blow the doors off the event on its own. Death Stranding will almost certainly get another weird trailer, and hopefully we might see some actual gameplay this year. I’d expect a look at Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay. Perhaps we’ll get a PS4 Slim/PS4 Pro price cut since Microsoft didn’t announce one. I’ll predict a close with a tease for Horizon Zero Dawn 2. I also predict I have missed about two or three huge surprises in this prediction list. We’ll see, stay tuned, and also follow along with my liveblog. Follow me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Pre-order my new sci-fi novel Herokiller, and read my first series, The Earthborn Trilogy, which is also on audiobook. |
