Amazon Black Friday 2019 deals start now: Big price cuts hit all Fire tablets, all Kindles and Echo Show 8 - CNET

Posted: 22 Nov 2019 05:20 AM PST

This story is part of Holiday Gift Guide 2019, your source for the season's best gifts and deals, hand-picked by the experts at CNET.

Black Friday doesn't officially start until Nov. 29, but it's officially arrived early at Amazon. The online retailer has discounted nearly all its Fire tablets, the Kindle Paperwhite e-reader and the Echo Show 8 smart display to their lowest prices since Prime Day -- and more discounts are on the way soon. Want to know when the rest of Amazon's Echo speakers, Echo Show smart displays and Fire TV video streamers get their big holiday price cuts? Read on, because we've got the full details here.

Looking for more Amazon discounts? Be sure to check out our ongoing list of the best Amazon early Black Friday deals available right now.

Full details are available below. Just remember that the sale prices are not available until the dates indicated.

Now on sale: Fire tablets, Kindle Paperwhite and more

Here's everything that went on sale starting today (Friday, Nov. 22) and earlier.

Save $50 on the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet. This is the same hardware as above, but with 32GB of storage built-in, a rubberized case, a year of FreeTime Unlimited (kid-friendly content) and a two-year no-questions-asked replacement warranty for any damage. See our Amazon Fire 8 Kids Edition Tablet review.

The Amazon Fire 7 Tablet, updated for 2019, usually costs $50. During this Black Friday sale, it will be just $30. That said, we highly recommend you upgrade to the 8-inch model below for just $20 more. See our Amazon Fire 7 Tablet review.

Normally $130, the Paperwhite -- the best all-around Kindle e-reader -- is back down to just $85 during this sale. And Amazon throws in a $5 ebook credit, too. See our Kindle Paperwhite review.

Sarah Tew/CNET

We'd strongly recommend you spend up for the Paperwhite. But if you're shopping on a budget, the newest entry-level Kindle finally includes a built-in light, and it's back down to its Prime Day price -- with a $5 ebook credit thrown in, too. Read our Kindle 2019 review.

Amazon

It's not even released yet, but Amazon just trotted out its first-ever discount on the Echo Show 8. It's basically a larger version of the super-popular Echo Show 5 (which is currently on sale for $80, FYI), and therefore better suited to places like the kitchen, where the 8-inch screen makes it easier to view cooking videos and the like. Read our Echo Show 8 preview.

Amazon

If you're a newcomer to Amazon's music-streaming service, it's hard to beat a buck for four full months of service. After that, you'll pay the regular rate of $9.99 per month, though you can cancel if you like, without penalty.

Starting Nov. 24: Fire TV products

The Sunday before Thanksgiving, Amazon adds more devices to its sale list.

Starting Nov. 27: Blink cameras, Ring doorbells and $5 smart plugs

The day before Thanksgiving means even more stuff goes on sale.

Amazon

The Blink XT2 is a weatherproof security camera with a battery that can supposedly last for two years. Getting a two-pack for $100 is a good deal. (There was a two-pack offered during Prime Day at a lower price.) See our hands-on preview of the Blink XT2.

Starting Nov. 28: Echo speakers and smart displays

Happy Thanksgiving! While you're basting the turkey, you can buy a good chunk of Amazon's updated Echo line at some very discounted prices.

Back to its Prime Day low, the Echo Dot (without the clock) puts all of the smarts of Amazon's assistant Alexa into a small and affordable package. Even at its normal price of $50, it's a good deal, so the $22 price is still something to celebrate. With voice commands, you can control your smart home, check the weather, play music, search the internet and more. You lose some sound quality with the smaller size, but you can plug it into your own speakers to make up for the difference. See the Amazon Echo Dot 2018 review.

James Martin/CNET

But c'mon... you want the newer, cooler version with the clock built-in, right? It was just introduced in September at $60, but now it'll be at its lowest price yet: Just $35. Read our Echo Dot with Clock review.

Ben Fox Rubin/CNET

If you want a smart speaker with Alexa that has a little more oomph to its sound quality, the latest version of the original Echo might be the right choice for you. The older version of this puppy was selling for $50 at one point on Prime Day, but with a list price of $100, $60 isn't half bad.  See our Amazon Echo 2019 review.

Tyler Lizenby/CNET

With a a 5.5-inch touchscreen and the ability to wake you up with a nifty sunrise animation, this is our favorite smart display with Alexa. And at this price, it's a no-brainer.  See our Amazon Echo Show 5 review.

Tyler Lizenby/CNET

The second gen Echo Show refined the design of the first model and offers better sound quality and a 10-inch HD screen. It combines the functionality of a smart speaker like the Echo Dot with a touchscreen you can use for video calls and controlling your smart home with a tap. We like the Echo Show 5 a little better, but at $150 for the full-sized Show -- $10 less than Prime Day, which looks to be its lowest ever -- is a tempting offer.  See our Amazon Echo Show review.

Tyler Lizenby/CNET

Do you need Alexa in your car? Probably not. But who are we to judge? If you always wanted Amazon's personal assistant on the road, now you can have it for half price. That's the lowest since it first became available to buy earlier this year. See our Echo Auto review.

Giant Black Friday phone deal slashes price of 2019's Google Pixel 4 and 3a - TechRadar India

Posted: 22 Nov 2019 03:45 AM PST

If you've been looking to pick up a Google Pixel 4, the latest smartphone from the tech giant, you're in luck, as a Black Friday deal on it and the mid-range Google Pixel 3a means the two smartphones are much more affordable than before.

This Black Friday phone sale comes from Google itself, as the company has cut prices on a few of its products including these two phones, certain smart home kit and more.

The Google Pixel 4 was released only a month ago, so it's got all the bells and whistles of a modern flagship smartphone like a high-end screen, snappy chipset and impressive camera capabilities. It launched for £669, but the deal takes it down to £599, which is impressively low for such a new phone.

Google Pixel 4: £669 £599 at Google Store
It's rare to see such a new phone get discounted, but Google has wiped £70 off the price of the Pixel 4 just weeks after it became available to pick up. At this new low price, the phone is somewhat of a steal, contending with mid-range handsets.

Google Pixel 4 XL: £829 £759 at Google Store
If you want Google's newest smartphone, this is the device we'd recommend, with a big screen and a battery that'll easily see you through the day. £70 off makes it a tempting buy, especially because Black Friday deals on the device will likely be rare.View Deal

Perhaps the more interesting smartphone of the two is the Google Pixel 3a, an affordable version of the Pixel 3 that retains its design and many of its features, with a slightly weaker chipset and camera AI.

That being said, it's still a great phone, especially because of its cheap price. A sale on it, that knocks off almost 20% (£70 in total) makes it an even better option for people who want an accomplished 2019 smartphone at a low price.

Google Pixel 3a: £399 £329 at Google Store
Google's affordable smartphone made a splash when it debuted, and it's pretty cheap now with this deal wiping £70 off the cost. Only having to pay £329 for one of the best budget camera phones in the world seems like a steal, so you better act fast to grab it for yourself.

Google Pixel 3a XL: £469 £399 at Google Store
If you prefer bigger phones, the Pixel 3a's bigger sibling, the 3a XL, is also £70 off, bringing the price under £400 for the first time. This has got all the cool features of the 3a, plus a bigger battery and screen, great for if you need a long-lasting phone.View Deal

Not in the UK? There's a great deal on the Google Pixel 3a in the US, and we'll monitor the Pixel 4 prices to see if they drop too.

Google Pixel 3a, 64GB $399.99 $249.99 at Best Buy
Just ahead of Black Friday, Best Buy is offering up to $150 in savings on the Google Pixel 3a. You can save $100 instantly, plus an additional $50 with qualified activation from AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint.

Samsung Galaxy S11 renders show an even more complicated camera array - Engadget

@OnLeaks/91Mobiles

Reputed leaker @onleaks has unveiled new renders of Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S11 that show the selfie camera shifted from the right side to the center. The images, created by 91 Mobile, also show a new rear camera array, a screen that's more curved than the Galaxy S10, new button positions and more. The renders are based on a "very reliable and first level industry source," according to @onleaks.

If everything is accurate (and that's a big "if," given that Galaxy S11 isn't due to be released until next year), then the new camera position will likely be welcomed by buyers. As it stands now, taking selfies with the S10 can be a bit tricky due to the offset camera position.

The lens array on the back has been moved from the center to the upper left, matching the camera position on the Galaxy Note 10. There would be two rows of cameras, with up to five separate lenses along with an LED flash. This could mean an even greater choice of zoom, wide-angle and possibly depth sensing cameras. The main camera will reportedly have a 108-megapixel sensor, first seen on the Xiaomi Mi Note 10. We could also see a 5x optical zoom, 8K video recording and more.

Other changes show a curvier screen, with more rounded corners and minimal side bezels. According to recent leaks, it could have a 6.7-inch 120Hz refresh on the AMOLED panel. The power and volume buttons have been moved to the right side, and Samsung may have eliminated the Bixby button. Unlike the S10, the renders show no dedicated headphone jack, unfortunately.

Samsung has already unveiled the Exynos 990 chip that will likely be used for the phone in Korea, but it'll reportedly pack a Snapdragon 865 chipset elsewhere. The phone will likely arrive in February next year, so this information is coming well ahead of time. Keep in mind that while @onleaks has a solid reputation for leaks, you'd still do well to take this with a grain of salt.
