Nintendo Switch Black Friday 2018 Deals In Early Ads: Games, Consoles, And Accessories On Sale Posted: 13 Nov 2018 03:54 AM PST The end of the year is almost here, which means we're nearly in the holiday season--and that means that it's nearly time for Black Friday 2018. Last year didn't bring with it much in the way of Nintendo Switch deals, but now it's approaching its two-year anniversary, and that's led to more offers on both its games and the console. This year, Black Friday takes place on November 23. Many stores have already released their ads, and in some cases, their offers will be available hours or even days in advance. In terms of the Nintendo Switch console, we're seeing an identical deal popping up in a lot of places since we first saw it in Target's preview ad. Target, Walmart, and Best Buy will sell the system for $300, as per usual (or $299 in Walmart's case), but the system will be a special bundle that comes with a free copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Unfortunately, if you were hoping for a sub-$300 Switch, we have yet to see anyone drop the system's price. If the aforementioned bundle doesn't appeal to you, Kohl's has a more expensive option that also comes with $90 in Kohl's Cash. A large number of Switch games are on sale, although the sheer scale of these deals is not the same as on PS4 or Xbox One, as you'd expect. Still, there are some good offers: last year's surprisingly excellent XCOM-like, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, drops to $20 at Best Buy; Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate drops to $35 at Target, Walmart, and Best Buy; Arms goes to $35 at Walmart; and Bayonetta 2 (which includes the previous game) will be $40 at Best Buy. Below, you'll find all of the Black Friday deals on Switch consoles, games, and accessories that we've spotted so far. More deals should be announced in the day ahead, and we'll keep this page updated. For even more, check out our full Black Friday deals coverage. Console DealsNintendo Switch with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

This might be our best look yet at the Galaxy S10's stunning design Posted: 13 Nov 2018 04:35 AM PST Three Galaxy S10 versions are in the works for next years, various reports have claimed over the past few months, including a cheaper version that would compete against “Lite” flagships from other Android vendors, and two premium models, including a high-end phone that’ll pack more cameras than ever. By all accounts, the Galaxy S10+ should be a more exciting upgrade than this year’s Galaxy S9+, and now we have a pretty good idea of what it may look like as well as new concept renders for the upcoming Samsung flagship series. Samsung last week unveiled its next-gen Infinity-branded displays, including the Infinity-O screen. That’s the kind of display that fits an almost perfect all-screen phone, featuring a camera hole at the top. Earlier reports and Samsung’s teasers suggested that phones like the Galaxy A8s and the Galaxy S10 will get Infinity-O phones soon. Well-known Samsung leaker Ice Universe said on Twitter that the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ should both feature Infinity-O screens, but the Galaxy S10 Lite won’t get one. A different leaker, who usually comes up with designs based on rumors, created the following renders showing different variations of Infinity-O screens when it comes to the selfie camera placement. The same Ben Geskin also made a Galaxy S10 concept featuring a New Infinity screen that’s also in the works at Samsung Display. But that kind of screen is still in early development, according to a previous report from the same Ice Universe, and the technology that would all smartphone vendors to place cameras under the display is far from being ready for prime time. Reports from Korea said earlier this week that the Galaxy S10 would be launched in February, followed by the Galaxy F foldable handset in March. |
Meet Squoosh, Google's powerful new image converter that works in any browser Posted: 13 Nov 2018 06:53 AM PST Google just launched a powerful new image converter called Squoosh at its Chrome Developer Conference that’s going to help you convert a bunch of image formats into the kind of image you want to use. Squoosh is an online tool that works in any browser, not just Google Chrome, but the entire process takes place on the computer and everything is saved locally. Per Ghacks, the app wasn’t designed as a competitor to apps that already exist to pull off the same kind of tricks. Instead, it was designed to showcase new technologies. The app supports a bunch of image formats, including OptiPNG, MozJPG, WebP, Browser PNG, JPG, and WebP, and you’ll be able to customize the actual image conversion for some of them. Some formats will have custom parameters that can be edited, like WebP, while others won’t.
You can easily choose between formats and modify the parameters, and the app does the conversion almost immediately, showing the result in the preview area. A handy slider on the screen lets you move between the original and the converted image to see how they compare. You can also resize and change the palette independently of the actual conversion process. From the looks of it, Squoosh is pretty intuitive to use, and while it may take some time adjustments compared to similar options, if you’re already using other programs to convert images it sure looks like a simple enough app to master. What the app doesn’t do is bulk conversions, so you’ll need a different app to handle that. You can already try the app yourself at squoosh.app. Again, it may be a Google tool, but it works in any browser. |
