Spotify launches Duo plan for couples in 5 countries, with special Duo Mix playlist - Android Police Posted: 28 Mar 2019 06:02 AM PDT Up until recently, Spotify had two plans for you to consider: the single account and the family plan, both billed monthly. Then the music streaming service launched in India and introduced daily, weekly, yearly, and more granular plans to fit any user or family's demands. This adventurous approach is carrying on now, with Spotify launching a special plan aimed at couples. Spotify Duo is another premium plan from the service, tailored for two users. It's currently available in the five countries below and its pricing seems to sit midway between the regular premium plan and family plan. Think about it as a way to save money either way. If you have two separate premium accounts, Duo is significantly cheaper; and if you have a family account but only two people use it, you get to save a bit each month. Beside all the Premium benefits, Duo subscribers will have access to one special feature: Duo Mix. It's a playlist based on both users' listening habits, marrying their tastes together. That could end up either interesting or freakishly Frankesteined. Duo Mix offers standard, chill, and uptempo modes, so you two love birds can tailor it to whatever you're currently doing. There's no word on whether Duo would come to other countries, but it's highly likely that Spotify is just testing it with these locales and will spread the offering to more later. |
Kaz Hirai announces retirement from Sony Corporation - Destructoid Posted: 28 Mar 2019 04:00 AM PDT So long and thanks for all the memes Kazuo Hirai, informally known as "Kaz", has announced that he intends to retire from the Sony corporation as chairman this Summer. This move follows Hirai's initial step down from the President and CEO position last month, a position he had held for over five years. The 58-year-old originally joined Sony Japan's music arm in 1984, eventually transitioning to Sony Computer Entertainment in 1995. Having overseen the incredibly successful PlayStation brand, Hirai would move on to Sony Corporation in 2011, before becoming President and CEO in 2012, a role he recently bequeathed to Kenichiro Yoshida. "Since passing the baton of CEO to Yoshida-san last April, as Chairman of Sony, I have had the opportunity to both ensure a smooth transition and provide support to Sony's management", said Kaz in a board statement. "I am confident that everyone at Sony is fully aligned under Yoshida-san's strong leadership, and are ready to build an even brighter future for Sony. As such, I have decided to depart from Sony, which has been a part of my life for the past 35 years. I would like to extend my warmest gratitude to all our employees and stakeholders who have supported me throughout this journey". Kazuo Hirai's retirement is effective of June 18, 2019. It is noted that he will remain counsel to Sony's management team, who can call upon his wealth of knowledge and experience in an ongoing "Senior Advisor by request" role. Filed under... |
