Posted: 11 Apr 2019 07:26 AM PDT Samsung said Thursday that people who sign up to learn more about its new foldable phone on Friday will be able to order it next week, ahead of the April 26 release date. Those who sign up on Samsung.com for information about the Galaxy Fold on Friday are eligible to preorder it on Monday, the company said. It's the best bet for people to get the next-generation phone on release day. The Galaxy Fold was announced in February and will cost $1,980. It is one of the first foldable phones to come to market and is a milestone in mobile technology, since it allows the device to function a bit like a traditional smartphone and a tablet when it's unfolded. Consumers have gravitated away from expensive devices that don't offer big hardware changes over what they already own. While the mass market may not jump to buy a $1,980 phone, the Galaxy Fold is a good example of where technology is heading and how device makers may change phones to make them more attractive to buyers who haven't found enough must-have features to upgrade. It's a form factor that's also being offered by Huawei through its Mate X device, which was also announced in February. Since Samsung provides displays to other manufacturers like Apple, it is plausible that other device makers will eventually adopt this form factor, and at lower prices as the technology matures. Samsung also said it will launch the Galaxy S10 5G, a special version of the Galaxy S10 that works on new 5G networks, beginning in May. Preorders for that phone will also begin "soon," the company said. Verizon has the exclusive on the Galaxy S10 5G until later in the second half of the year, when AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile will also begin selling the Galaxy S10 5G. However, Verizon's 5G network is extremely limited right now. |
Atomic Heart RTX Technology Demo download - guru3d.com Posted: 11 Apr 2019 06:17 AM PDT Advertisement Download the Atomic Heart RTX Tech Demo, this demo showcases DirectX Raytracing reflections and shadows, as well as NVIDIA DLSS. Ray-traced reflections in Atomic Heart adds realistic effects to its shiny labs, water, and many other game elements. The implementation of raytraced shadows enables the casting of more accurate and complex shadows that are rendered based on the properties of the scene. These realistic lighting effects bring you a deeper immersion into the alternate universe of Atomic Heart.
Atomic Heart will support non RTX graphics cards also. While you may run this tech demo with a GeForce GTX graphics card, the publisher does not recommend it because the multiple ray tracing effects are too demanding to run without the RT Cores found on GeForce RTX cards. Please be advised, the download is well over 3 GB. |
New iPhone Leak From UK Government Reveals Improved Feature - Forbes Posted: 10 Apr 2019 05:05 PM PDT When the app was first launched, this feature was available on Android, but Apple's developer restrictions meant that it was impossible for third-party developers to use the iPhone's NFC circuitry to perform the same task. That meant the app only launched for Android. For Javid to make the statement above, Apple must have changed the policy around NFC access. It's unlikely that this will be a unique feature for the UK government, so developers can prepare to roll out NFC functionality from Android apps to the iOS-powered iPhone. That means your iPhone could soon be used in a multitude of real world settings, such as opening hotel rooms, acting as a ticket for mass transit systems, and faster bluetooth pairing using NFC for identification. Speaking about the mobile application developed for the Home Office to register foreign nationals in the United Kingdom as part of preparations for the controversial departure of the UK from the European Union, Home Secretary Sajid Javid stated that the iOS application would finally available by the end of the year, reports NFC World:
