The new MacBook Air is on sale for $900 at Amazon - Engadget Posted: 08 Jun 2020 07:32 AM PDT When Apple unveiled the new MacBook Air in March, it was the first sub-$1,000 MacBook in years. Now, the base model Air is an even better deal. Amazon is offering $100 off the normal price. At the moment, you can get the latest MacBook Air with a 10th gen Core i3 processor, 8GB or RAM and 256GB of storage for $900. When we first reviewed this MacBook Air, we gave the laptop a score of 86. It won us over with the new Magic Keyboard, the scissor-style design that the company debuted on last year's 16-inch MacBook Pro. The new keyboard replaces the troubled butterfly design of past MacBook generations, and it's firmy, springy keys can keep up with the fastest typers. We also praised the new MacBook Air for its sharp retina display, excellent trackpad and Touch ID that works well and is easy to set up. It doesn't hurt that the base model comes with double the storage of its predecessor, either. There are a couple of drawbacks: the battery life is good, but it's still not the best in class, and the lack of full-sized USB ports is still a pain. Last week, we saw the higher-end MacBook Air go on sale and that price still applies. That laptop comes with a Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It's also on sale for $100 off at Amazon, so you can get it now for $1,199. If you plan on using the laptop often and hope it will last a few years, it might be wise to invest in the Core i5 processor and added storage. Samsung’s New Galaxy Watch Name Leaks, And It’s A Surprise, Report Claims - Forbes Posted: 07 Jun 2020 11:17 AM PDT Samsung's next Galaxy Watch is almost upon us, likely to land in the next couple of months, if not sooner. Its exact name has just been revealed, according to a report in MySmartPrice and picked up by PhoneArena.com. We've already seen the first glimpse of the design of the watch and have had clues to the return of one much-loved feature from the first Galaxy Watch (read about the design and the feature here). But, until now, it's been assumed that the successor to the first Galaxy Watch would be called Samsung Galaxy Watch 2. I mean, it would make sense, right? But it seems that the next watch is going to be called Samsung Galaxy Watch3. That's according to the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) in Thailand, where the new watch has just been going through regulatory approval. The filing has the same product code number as found elsewhere which indicates it's the same product that we're talking about. Note that there's no space between the word Watch and the number 3. I'm not being overly pedantic here, I think it's a clue as to why the number 3 is there at all. Because although there was no Samsung Galaxy Watch 2, there was a Galaxy Watch Active, followed by the Galaxy Watch Active2, with the same predilection to connect the final word to the numeral. In other words, I think Samsung is seeing this watch as a successor to the Watch Active2 and has merely taken the word Active out of the name. This might indicate that Samsung is seeing the Active element as so central to the watch that it doesn't need the word in the title any more. There's not much more revealed in the certification apart from the confirmation that it will come in a 41mm size, along with the 45mm option certified by the FCC recently. Also confirmed is the fact that an LTE version is available, presumably alongside a model with Wi-fi and Bluetooth connectivity. It's expected the Watch3 will be revealed alongside the next Note handset in August, rumored to be on August 5. Other details, like the much-hoped-for return of a physical rotating bezel, titanium finish model alongside stainless-steel and aluminum options, 8GB of storage space, GPS and waterproofing to 5ATM are all predicted as well. |
